Our goal…
Since the departure of Bangarra Dance Theatre, Stephen Page and Hunter have formed the production company DJALI HOUSE. Their aim is to create a global platform for indigenous stories and artists as well as people from vibrant cultures and backgrounds. Their goal is to create a hub for these practitioners to create meaningful projects that teach audiences cultural values through authenticity and respect.
Djali House is a First Nations/Black-owned company with a focus on using intergenerational creative collaboration to bring genre projects to a global audience. We believe strongly in acknowledging the doors opened for those who came before us, while also building commercially sustainable and creatively fulfilling pathways for the next generation of BIPOC creatives in Australia.
Djali House is defined by culturally safe development and production practices that set a tone for a less exploitative wave of diverse stories. It’s not about being “the first”, it’s about showing respect and finding pride in the process. This includes language revitalization and reclamation of Indigenous IP that sits with non-Indigenous production companies. Our combined experience gives us a unique skill set to provide cultural consultancy/EP services.
